Much is written on the physical effects of weight gain but my concentration here is on the emotional weight carried around by many of you who are looking to resolve this problem.
The side effects of poor self esteem, negativity and lack of
confidence to name but a few, can affect daily living to such an extent that happiness is drained away. The mental worry of wanting to change but not feeling able to can lead to a mental torment of beating yourself up, further lowering of mood, and so to a vicious circle of constantly feeling bad.
How is it possible that changes within the mind can create weight loss? The mind and the body, although often stated separately, are in fact one system. What happens in the mind affects the body and vice versa.
The mind can be our best friend or our worst enemy and the difference between the two depends on how you learn to use it effectively and unfortunately very few have been taught how to do this.
To begin to understand the power of our own minds to create what it is that we want can be transformational and I invite you to consider that it could even change your life.
We all have all of the resources that we need to be who we want to be and to live the lives that we want to live. We have the power to resolve painful issues and conflicts that can be experienced with weight issues. This can appear to be hidden from us, we have forgotten how, or maybe we have never known how and this leaves us feeling powerless to change.
All behaviours are unconscious which is why we are generally unaware of what we are doing or thinking to create our present experience, leading us to believe that change is outside of our control, that there is something outside of us that is calling the shots. Bringing these unconscious processes to the surface, into our conscious awareness allows resolution. This is how NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) works.
What we believe about ourselves, who we think we are and what we believe we are capable of, will create exactly what it is that you believe and we may not be aware fully of what exactly these beliefs are. If you believe you can or if you believe you can't, then either will be true for you. There are many ways within NLP to change beliefs, freeing your mind to focus on your goal of weight loss, to move away from failing diet after diet.
Taking this one step further, it is possible to have conflicting belief systems, where you believe you can and you believe you can't, at the same time or changing from one to the other. This will manifest as losing weight effectively for a short time, then self sabotaging yourself by maybe having a takeaway to celebrate, leading to feeling disheartened, then giving up. This can be a very painful conflict to live with and the techniques of NLP resolve this within the mind so that all of you has the belief of "I can", all of you has the same goal and wants to succeed.
Do you want to lose weight? You CAN! One of the many important discoveries within NLP was the aspect of 'Modelling', something that we all have a particular skill for. As young children we are expert at copying (or modelling) or parents as we learn how to be human. Look how well you learnt to speak, how did you do that? This means that if one person is able to do something, then so can you! You were born with the same capabilities, resources and potential.
Tapping into the "you" that you may not have discovered yet is part of the magic of NLP.
Whatever you think you are... You are FAR more than that!
I am a NLP Practitioner, working with integrity and empowering you to live the life that you want... because you matter!
NLP is an outcome based therapy, looking at what it is that you want and finding the most effective way to get you there. It is an ethical and respectful process that helps you to change the neurological pathways in your mind to get you the results that you want.
